ALIS
CFW AW25’
In the shared birthplace of free-town Christiania, out of the hands of two creatively attuned friends, ALIS presented its AW25’ wares across the Copenhagen runway. The brand, established in 1995, was originally noted as a local voice. Swiftly the project gained notoriety becoming a national movement over time. All the while, the brand remained somewhat of a mystery. As the premises of ALIS’s purpose stretched outward, the creators became authentic pioneers of “youth culture, skateboarding, and streetwear”.

Free-town Christiania was originally formed in the 1970s by a conglomeration of hippies and squatters, those of which began building a new type of community in a vacant military base. Over time the commune established meetings based on a series of rules in addition to the development of its own flag. As time passed, the creative voices extending out of this anarchist community gained international traction, to the point that the town became a very popular tourist destination.

Much like its birthplace, the brand is dedicated to values of community and a “raw desire to create”. Throughout the years, many highs and lows would come to accompany the phases of change that ALIS has experienced. In these periods of stagnancy, turned growth, the designers understood new levels of maturity. In 2025 they’re ready to expand via a “re-invented new direction”. The creations shine, as do recent partnerships with Philip Lotko and Daniel Hesselager alongside the creative direction of Tobias Birk Nielsen.

The streetwear brand is focused on honouring its’ roots whilst also looking toward a vibrant future, which can be seen in the neon colourways and acid-adjusted denims interspersed throughout. Creative risk is accompanied by social reflections and intentional craftsmanship, ensuring the garments’ wearability as much as their intrigue. Playing onto contemporary trends like large font logos positioned below waistbands, oversized metallic belt buckles, double zip closures, neon chartreuse, and the unconfined movement of skirts over trousers, ALIS nods to its era of origin with a fresh new outlook.

In a world that is constantly looking toward a quick-click dopamine rush, it’s easy to abandon our intrinsic ideas and goals. Many find they seldom receive praise for turning around and finishing what they started, as opposed to getting on with the next big thing. ALIS is a brand dedicated to rebirth as much as it is able to praise what was formerly known. In the words of co-founder Isabelle Hammerich “never give up on a wild child”. Perfectly encapsulated by the collection’s title, Comeback Culture is as much a magnifying glass on the past as it is a kaleidoscope into the future.
