This series is born from a collaboration between JBJK and the city of Venice, but it turns the city’s most familiar image inside out.

Instead of the warm, golden light through which Venice is almost always portrayed, the project builds a cold, metallic Venice: the

same black-and-grey palette that defines the brand’s identity becomes the chromatic register of the city itself.

Istrian stone, marble, balustrades and metallic surfaces are treated as a single material, an alloy of grey tones in which garment

and architecture stop being subject and background, and become part of the same substance.

A dense, opaque lead-grey, faintly blue under cold light, the exact tone of wet stone and metallic surfaces recurring throughout the series.

Unlike silver or a neutral grey, lead carries density and mass, consistent with the physicality of the poses and the material presence of the architecture.

A quiet echo of the Piombi of Palazzo Ducale, the cells once lined with sheets of lead, a double meaning that doesn’t need explaining to work.
